SOUTH COAST WINERY AND CARTER ESTATE WINERY SCORE BIG AT THE OC FAIR COMMERCIAL WINE COMPETITION

TEMECULA, Calif. (June 27, 2022) – The Carter family-owned Temecula wineries, South Coast Winery and Carter Estate Winery, proudly accepted a combination of 19 Double Gold, Gold and Silver medals at The OC Fair Commercial Wine Competition. Originated in 1976, the wine competition is operated by the Orange County Wine Society and considered California’s finest and most meticulously judged California-only wine competition.
A panel of over 90 winemakers in the United States blind assessed each entered selection to choose winners for their varietal faithfulness. Throughout the rigorous judging process, each medal-winning wine is tasted by at least four judges who are commercial winemakers or winery principals.
“We are once again honored and grateful so many of our wines were recognized by this esteemed judging team at a competition held soon after we were named Golden State Winery of the Year by the California State Fair,” said Jeff Carter, president of Carter Hospitality. “Our viticulture team continues to prove how their expertise and challenging work are appreciated by avid wine lovers.”
The 2022 OC Fair Commercial Wine Competition awards bestowed on Carter Estate Winery include a Double Gold medal won by 2015 Blanc de Blanc and Gold medals won by 2015 Blanc de Noir, 2015 Prestige and 2020 Viognier. Gold awards garnered by South Coast Winery include 2017 Carmenere, 2017 TNT, NV Brut, 2020 Verdelho, 2020 Chardonnay Sans Chêne and 2017 Meritage (SCW). Carter Estate also won one Silver medal and South Coast received seven Silver awards.
